| HSA Crowns Local Spelling Bee Champion |
|
Harmony Science Academy hosted its annual Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday, January 12th. It was a resounding success as all ten contestants went multiple rounds ending in an extremely tense back and forth between Rami Islam and Karrington Vaughn. Rami eventually won in the 19th round by spelling 'valetudinarian' and 'asphyxiant' in succession. Karrington took an impressive second place with Dylan Boren placing third. We want to extend a big 'thank you' to all the contestants and to everyone who attended. Also a special thanks to local children's author Amanda Thrasher who served as a guest judge. We are already looking forward to the 2013 event!
